As the only other vampire resident of the Barge, and considering the fact that your new friend is already readying himself for another round of painfully typical and typically painful behavior - I'm available. For questions and so on.

[And help. But she imagines Scott knows that, even if the rest of them don't.]

I have a project for you, if you're interested.

Remind me. Did you say you had a medical degree? [She may or may not need some help.]

[This is the second time this has happened - at least, the second time it's happened on the Barge. This time, she isn't craving, or at least not any more than she ordinarily is. No, the instability comes from without rather than within, and this time, there isn't a godsdamned thing she can do about it.]

[The dreams don't start out contagious. They just start out bad, bad and familiar, hunger and blood and blackness and laughter, half-memory and half-siphoned in from another place and another time. Flashes at first, seconds of memory and fiction thrown up by her mind that fling her back into consciousness with eyes wide and red in the darkness, teeth sharp and closing on nothing.]

[When they begin to spread out from her own psyche to others', they get both more vicious and more concrete, like watching a full movie instead of a clip. She doesn't wake up anymore once she sinks into a dream, just lies on her cot in her cabin as if she's dead. The dream itself sneaks out under her door to find a second, someone else to play with. Anybody at all is fair game.]

A.
[You are in a black forest. And you are very, very cold.]

[The trees hem you in on both sides. You can tell it's impossibly dark here - there is no moon, and the sky is too cloudy to show stars - but somehow your eyes pick up on the silvery edges of things, and you can more or less see.]

[Ahead, there's nothing. Just endless trees, their clawlike branches reaching to the sky. Behind you, though, there are voices - lights - torches, you think, but can't be sure yet, because the light hurts your eyes.]

[Then something else behind you - a dark shape that turns into a someone, slim and pale in the silvery unlight, with long hair stuck full of twigs. Whoever it is grabs your arm with unnatural strength and begins to pull you along with just one word, one whispered instruction:]

Run.

B. CW; BLOOD + GORE + VAMPIRISM.
[Alternately: it's a dark and stormy night. No one should be surprised by this.]

[The walls are old, dark stone. Look out the window and you'll find you're hundred of feet in the air. The windows themselves are narrow slits, as though meant for archers, although there have never been archers here. The castle - yes, of course it's a castle - is halfway up a mountain surrounded by a black forest. In the distance, through the trees, there is light, maybe a village, but in here it's very dark, lit only by candles that appear to have been designed to gutter.]

[The draft in here is unbelievable. Wind whistles through gaps in the stones. Through a half-cracked door, you can see another room - and, more importantly, a fire in this room's fireplace. But there's someone standing in front of that fire, all in shadow against the light.]

public } voice

[For once, she sounds flat, distracted, disinterested. None of the eager curiosity or easy sarcasm that typically brightens her voice are there now.]

The dreams are back.

( ooc; mal is experiencing a recurrence of her mirror-barge door symptoms, which include night terrors and time loss! and because of her canonical tendencies towards flashsides {contagious hallucinations} in times of stress . . . her night terrors are totally contagious, too. dream B will contain typical vampiric themes, so dream A is available for people who aren't interested in all that shit. pp with any questions ♥ )
