[It's only later that she goes to find him in his room. This time, she knocks. Of course, if he doesn't respond, she'll just go in. But she can pretend at respect for bare moments.]

[As always, this serves its purpose - to center her, to draw her focus in and enable her to spread it out, to let her focus on the taste and smell of Aeryn and the undercurrent of energy that makes her alive rather than anything less pleasant.]

[She sighs against the other woman's mouth and tugs at her lip with her teeth. Thank you, thank you, thank you.]

[ Aeryn is comforted in this, inasmuch as she can be; she's worried about this transition, worried about the strain it will put Mal under, but other than that she trusts it will go as it must because she can do nothing but trust.

And this. Be herself, in Mal's space, and take up as much of it as she can whenever Mal might need it, and several moments besides.

When they break for air - and they must, because Aeryn has to breathe despite other plans - she rubs her thumb along Mal's cheekbone and gives her a wry smile. ]
